Scion Nonprofit Staffing, an award-winning full-service staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Chief Executive Officer for our client, a dedicated advocate for the brain tumor community in the U.S. This impactful organization is searching for an inclusive, visionary leader with an open mind to provide crucial support to patients, caregivers, and their families. This full-time hybrid position is open to candidates located in the Chicagoland area, or candidates open to frequent and regular travel to their office in Chicago.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Working closely with the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the organization's success. The CEO ensures mission and vision are fulfilled, maintains accountability to its diverse constituents, and ensures its relevance to the community. The ideal candidate fosters a supportive and inclusive work environment and nurtures positive relationships with employees, donors, patients, and other stakeholders. Additionally, this position focuses on the core functions of the organization to achieve its long-term goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead in a way that supports and advances the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate effectively with the Board, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all necessary information for proper functioning and informed decision-making.
  • Cultivate, build, and maintain relationships with constituents, donors, and organizations to promote the mission and solicit financial support.
  • Ensure fiscal integrity by submitting an annual budget proposal and monthly financial statements to the Board, accurately reflecting the organization's financial condition.
  • Manage finances to operate within the approved budget, maximize resource utilization, and maintain a positive financial position for the organization.
  • Implement programs to effectively carry out the organization's mission.
  • Conduct strategic planning to ensure the organization’s continued success and future accomplishments.
  • Enhance the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community and collaborating closely with other professional, community, and private organizations.
  • Oversee and allocate appropriate resources to ensure the organization's operations are effective.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its interests to the public, media, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Advocate for the association's goals through effective communication, including social media, and collaboration with government agencies, industry partners, and other organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree is required with a preference for an advanced degree.
  • At least 10 years of senior management experience is necessary, with a preference for non-profit management experience in a voluntary health organization.
  • Proven track record in key leadership roles within regional or national high-performance, outcomes-based organizations.
  • Strong commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational management, including coaching, managing, and developing high-performance teams to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Financial expertise with a history of budget development and management.
  • Successful experience collaborating with and cultivating relationships with Boards of Directors.
  • Robust background in fundraising, marketing, and public relations, skilled in engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Persuasive and passionate communicator with strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in multidisciplinary project management.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
  • Effective collaboration skills across diverse groups.
  • Characterized by integrity, a positive attitude, commitment to mission, and self-direction.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive salary of $220,000-$235,000 (DOE) this opportunity offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; a 401K plan with employer match; parental leave; monthly technology stipend; a generous paid time off plan; summer hours; smart casual dress; free access to the on-site fitness center; free office parking;  and work-life balance.
