Scion Nonprofit seeks an experienced globetrotter Global Executive Director for our fantastic client – a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the next generation of ocean enthusiasts and professionals. Through innovative programs, they aim to expand people's access to ocean education and engagement opportunities. Their efforts are focused on Southeast Asia, where they provide unique behind-the-scenes experiences that inspire curiosity and spark a passion for the ocean. This incredible full-time, on-site opportunity is based in Singapore. The ideal candidate is a passionate and high-performing individual with a track record of leading new phases of growth and innovation and building on the success of existing educational programs. 

POSITION LOCATION:
The position will be based in Singapore and require significant travel to New York, APAC, ASEAN, and EMEA, among other locations. The Executive Director must be comfortable working flexible hours (for meetings with stakeholders in global locations). This position will require significant travel and perhaps several months spent each year in the organization’s Singapore office and the surrounding regions. This individual must be experienced in global travel and accustomed to going anywhere in the world where impact and network enhancement can occur.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Global Executive Director will elevate the educational initiatives, establish partnerships with leading organizations, cultivate relationships with donors, and implement a comprehensive approach to ocean education. Responsibilities include: 
  • Develop and enhance the strategic vision in the APAC region. 
  • Collaborate with leadership, establish a regional governance structure and advisory board, and keep the board and leadership informed about developments and initiatives. 
  • Lead the Education program team and serve as the internal representative. 
  • Formulate and execute a strategy for educational programming in the ocean space across APAC. 
  • Work with Education staff to supervise the management, execution, and expansion of APAC's current and future educational programs. 
  • Provide strategic input on researching and cultivating new institutional and programmatic partners in the region. 
  • Develop and implement a regional fundraising strategy with the VP of Partnerships, targeting governmental, NGO, foundation, and individual donors. 
  • Establish and execute a communication and media strategy tailored to the region. 
  • Manage a streamlined budget and coordinate with accounting and tax support. 
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in businesses or nonprofits focused on ocean, climate, and/or environmental science, with some exposure to the education sector preferred. 
  • Be a world traveler and love it! Possess the thirst, energy and desire to travel to all parts of the globe for days, weeks, and months at a time for the mission and cause of this organization.
  • A passionate leader with a strategic vision for ocean education opportunities. 
  • Comfortable operating in an ambiguous and dynamic start-up environment. 
  • Skilled in navigating complex organizations and entities with a clear focus on impact-oriented work. 
  • Proven experience in leading development or fundraising efforts. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling vision. 
  • Adaptable leader seeking to lead a streamlined, regional team. 
  • Experience managing education-related businesses, particularly museum management or fields connected to oceans, science, or the environment, is highly desirable. 
  • Highly independent and proactive, with a self-starting attitude. 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of shaping programs creatively in response to uncertainty. 
  • Determined, resourceful, practical, and possessing a strong work ethic. 
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a humble approach. 
  • Ability to bridge institutional governance requirements with entrepreneurial innovation. 
  • Operates with a high degree of discretion and ethical conduct. 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to offering a competitive base salary of $300,000 - $375,000 Singaporean dollars (SGD) + (doe) + bonus, they have an excellent employee benefit package.
