Scion Staffing has been engaged to lead the search for a Nonprofit Accountant with an established, socially driven organization in the Bay Area. This is a Part-Time, Contract opportunity offering a competitive pay rate, the flexibility of working remotely, and the chance to make an impact on the community. This role is slated as a 6-month minimum contract and will require 20+ hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all accounting transactions for the organization; ensure that all transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain processes and controls of all accounting transactions according to Generally Accepted Account Principles (GAAP).
• Assist in financial close and monthly statement preparation, including reconciliations to various balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for the Executive Team and other departments.
• Assist in the management of grant reporting, including managing the grant tracking and financial reporting submission to funders.
• Maintain general ledger and prepare monthly journal entries.
• Oversee payroll submission by third-party payroll service providers.
• Manage the organization’s annual audit and assist in the preparation of the 990.
• Assist in the annual budget preparation and reforecast.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, laws & regulations
• At least 3+ years of mid-level nonprofit finance experience
• Experience with Quickbooks (3+ years)
• Knowledge of non-profit financials and accrual-based accounting
• Great organizational skills and very detail-oriented
• Mastery of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
• Proficiency and comfort working in Google Suite and Slack or similar platform
• Excellent project management skills
• Ability to manage a full workload independently
• Critical thinker and problem-solving abilities

COMPENSATION:

This opportunity offers a competitive pay rate of $35-40 / hr DOE
