Scion Staffing, Inc. (www.scionstaffing.com), a full-service staffing firm has been engaged to conduct a search for a Contract to Hire Litigation Associate Attorney for our incredible client based in downtown Denver! Our client is a small, well respected law firm specializing in investment fraud and commercial litigation with an emphasis on business disputes, securities fraud, Ponzi schemes, investment fraud, stockbroker fraud, mediation and FINRA arbitration.

Position Overview:

We are seeking candidates with five (5) or more years of experience with practicing law, drafting and filing pleadings independently, etc. who can jump right in and work closely with the firm attorneys and administrator on upcoming trials and depos. This role will have regular, direct contact with clients, so must bring a customer-service oriented perspective and the ability to develop strong client relationships. Additionally, this role will step in to complete filings and other activities when the Senior Attorney is unavailable.

Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado. 

This position will report directly to the Managing Attorney. This role is for immediate hire (start by mid-November) and is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Our client is looking for a strong, long-term fit; this is your opportunity to get your foot in the door!  

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Drafting and editing filings and courtroom presentations; writing skills and legal drafting are a top requirement for this role! This role will be writing initial drafts for the managing attorney that need to be as close to the final draft as possible.
  • Researching legal issues in depth.
  • Managing cases from beginning to end with minimal supervision.
  • Engaging with clients regularly to obtain and share information.
  • Providing back up to the Senior Attorney, as needed.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience with complex commercial litigation.
  • J.D. and license to practice in the state of Colorado.
  • Proficiency with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Experienced in ICCES State and Federal e-filing requirements.
  • LexisNexis, PACER, CM/ECF and ICCES expertise REQUIRED.
  • Electronic document management and electronic disclosure experience (experience with Nextpoint preferred, but skilled use of equivalent e-discovery software is acceptable).
  • Strong proficiency with technology, computers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint a MUST).
  • Superior editing, proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation and composition skills.
  • Commitment to excellent customer services and client relations.
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work atypical hours if cases require.
