Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Interim Executive Director for a dynamic nonprofit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a long-term interim, part-time (25-30 hours/week), hybrid opportunity.
The Interim Executive Director will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the organization during a time of transition. This position will be a one-year engagement, to start in November 2024.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage existing organizational development initiatives including foundation and grassroots fundraising and to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to ensure organization continues to meet its financial, programmatic, and legal obligations. Support board meetings and activities, including regular financial and programmatic reporting to the board for quarterly board meetings.
- Manage finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, using QuickBooks.
- Review weekly accounts payable and receivable for accuracy and adherence to documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with the accountant and audit firm to ensure financial compliance, and to complete annual audit.
- Supervise contract grant writer on grant application and report narratives.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with government and foundation funders
- Oversee HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation processes.
- Provide mentorship and support to staff members
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Represent organization in externally-facing meetings with stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of experience in senior leadership roles within nonprofit organizations, preferably with a focus on arts.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Experience managing grants and donations.
- Demonstrated success in securing funding from various sources, including government grants, foundations, and individual donors.
- Proficiency with accounting software, e.g. QuickBooks.
- Ability to work onsite in the San Francisco Bay Area.
COMPENSATION
The hourly pay rate for this position is $55-70/hour, depending on experience.
