Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Senior Director for Historic Preservation and Collections for our distinguished lineage-based membership organization in Washington, D.C.! This incredible role works hands-on, leading a team of senior-level managers and driving strategic and operational excellence in the stewardship of historical collections and archives, making a real and tangible impact in the preservation of American history! This position is for immediate hire and works on-site in the DC Metro area!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with staff to improve the overall visibility of our Museum, Library, and Archive programs, ensuring our spaces are welcoming and accessible to a broad and diverse audience.
  • Ensure the preservation of the historic building, including restoration, renovation, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse.
  • Work with team members to ensure collection management standards are met and plan for new acquisitions.
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations.
  • Communicate effectively with partner institutions, vendors, volunteers, scholars, lenders, and other collaborators.
  • Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and management of approved budgets, resources, and programs.
  • Guide a diverse range of professionals to encourage professional development in their chosen professions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in American history, public history, American studies, museum science, library science, or a related discipline.
  • 7 + years of experience, including 5 years of management experience in diverse leadership roles.
  • Senior-level management experience in a dynamic setting, coupled with experience supporting executive leadership to create and execute vision and strategies.
  • Previous employment may include roles at historical societies, libraries, museums, and collections in areas such as curator, conservation, education, historic site professional, research, or project leadership.
  • Creative and visionary mindset with the ability to bring new ideas to the table.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities, demonstrating proficiency in collaborating with diverse personalities across all organizational levels.
  • Outstanding communication skills, encompassing verbal, written, and organizational proficiencies.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects with varying timelines and concurrent deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding and application of industry-specific best practices and standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in optimizing operational processes to achieve peak efficiency and productivity outcomes.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

In addition to a competitive base salary (DOE), between $110,000 and $140,000, they offer comprehensive medical benefits, Employer paid life and disability insurance, and generous PTO and Sick Leave and many more perks!
