Scion Nonprofit Staffinghas been engaged to conduct a high-priority search for a Director of Individual Giving for our client, an organization whose mission is to empower young people to reach their full potential through accessible enrichment programs, mentorship, and community involvement, striving to close the opportunity gap and promote equity. This is an exciting direct-hire, hybrid position in Downtown San Jose.
Position Overview: The Director of Individual Giving will be instrumental in acquiring financial backing from individual donors, cultivating donor connections, overseeing the annual giving initiative, donor appreciation endeavors, and launching a planned giving program. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead strategic fundraising efforts and make a significant impact on the future opportunities for youth in Silicon Valley.
Responsibilities: Individual Giving and Fundraising:
Formulate and execute strategies to secure financial support from individual donors.
Foster relationships with donors, focusing on major gifts and planned giving opportunities.
Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to establish and oversee a Giving Society program.
Integrate individual giving strategies into the overall fundraising plan in partnership with the Development team.
Annual Giving Program Oversight:
Direct and supervise the annual giving program, establishing objectives and tactics for its achievement.
Craft and implement fundraising campaigns and appeals to optimize annual giving outcomes.
Donor Relations and Engagement:
Cultivate enduring connections with individual donors.
Develop tailored donor engagement plans to nurture and elevate donor involvement.
Deploy effective donor acknowledgment and gratitude strategies.
Ensure timely and precise reporting to donors regarding the impact of their contributions.
Planned Giving Program Establishment:
Devise and execute strategies for instituting a comprehensive planned giving program.
Identify and assess potential planned giving prospects, providing pertinent information and opportunities.
Collaborate with legal and financial advisors to facilitate planned gifts like bequests, charitable trusts, and gift annuities.
Collaboration:
Partner with the Marketing and Communications team to create materials and campaigns supporting individual giving and donor relations initiatives.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure a unified approach to donor engagement.
Provide regular updates on fundraising progress, donor engagement endeavors, and planned giving initiatives to the Chief Development Officer.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Previous fundraising experience, with emphasis on annual giving, donor stewardship, and planned giving.
Demonstrated success in soliciting and securing both annual and planned gifts.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
Knowledge of a donor management software.
Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Dynamic, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects concurrently and independently.
Collaborative team player who excels in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to work a full twelve-month schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary. Access to reliable transportation for all work-related commitments, including evening and weekend engagements.

Compensation: In addition to working for an organization with a phenomenal mission, this opportunity offers an annual salary of between $95,000-$110,000 in addition to the full benefits package.
