Scion Nonprofit Staffing, an award-winning full-service staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Leadership Giving Officer for our client, a well-established and growing animal organization that helps the needs of thousands of animals across Southeastern Michigan. This full-time hybrid/remote opportunity is available immediately!

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Leadership Giving Officer is responsible for fundraising through a portfolio-driven approach, encompassing tasks such as qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and potential donors. To achieve major gift goals, this person is responsible for developing strategies for portfolio management, prospect handling, and crafting gift proposals. The ideal candidate for this position should be an independent and innovative self-starter, proficient in communication, relationship-building, and metric tracking. The Leadership Giving Officer will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Development and Marketing, as well as other members of the Development team, to successfully implement the annual major gift plan, contributing to the saving of numerous animal lives!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage a portfolio of 125-150 donors.
  • Enhance the major giving program by developing and implementing a strategic annual plan.
  • Discover, nurture, and request contributions to bolster support for programs.
  • Cultivate favorable donor relationships in combination with executing stewardship activities.
  • Execute significant giving events, incorporating existing activities as applicable, such as donor tours and receptions.
  • Develop major gift assets, including branding materials, briefing memos, gift proposals, and other relevant documents.
  • Collaborate with volunteers to foster new opportunities for giving.
  • Support in overseeing the relationship process for individual donors by coordinating with primary relationship managers, including the President & CEO, Board Members, VP of Development and Marketing, and other key leadership staff.
  • Strive to meet agreed-upon performance metrics, surpass established fundraising goals within the allocated budget, and regularly prepare reports detailing major gift activities and outcomes.
  • Proactively pursue training and other opportunities to stay abreast of the latest fundraising trends.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Legacy Gifts to integrate planned giving options into fundraising requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required with at least three years of progressive fundraising experience.
  • Proven success in soliciting major gifts through prospect identification, portfolio management, cultivation strategy design, relationship building, and effective follow-up and stewardship activities.
  • Possesses robust interpersonal, analytical, and time-management abilities in combination with being a collaborator adept at multitasking on detail-oriented projects.
  • Strong emotional intelligence with adaptability, flexibility, and tolerance for calculated risk, with empathy for animals and people and an overall positive outlook.
  • Advanced  in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with Raiser's Edge is Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Travel to and within Washtenaw County is required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive salary of $75,000-$95,000 this position offers a very strong benefits package including two weeks paid time off with carry-over, six sick days, holiday closures, majority employer-paid health, dental, and vision plans, and a strong focus on work-life balance!
