Scion Executive Search has been retained to conduct the search for the Director of HR and Administration on behalf of the IATSE (International Alliance for Theatrical and Stage Employees) Entertainment and Exhibition Industries Training Trust Fund. This joint labor-management training fund was created by IATSE and its signatory employers, the union representing craftspeople in the entertainment and exhibition industries across both the US and Canada.

 

The incoming Director of HR and Administration is responsible for human resources, benefits administration, and oversight of the operations department, and will report directly to the Executive Director. This engaging and collaborative individual will work closely with fellow leadership and staff, developing and implementing policies and systems that increase effectiveness and efficiency. This fantastic opportunity requires significant experience in HR and Benefits Administration for unionized work environments and is for immediate hire and operates on a full-time basis. IATSE Training Trust Fund is excited to welcome this newest team member to the office located in Burbank, California.

 

ABOUT IATSE TRAINING TRUST FUND:

The IATSE Training Trust Fund (TTF) was created to support and advance the skills and knowledge of IATSE workers to keep up with the ever-changing technologies of the entertainment and exhibition industries. The Training Trust Fund was established in June of 2011 and is a 501 (c)(9) tax-exempt organization.

 

The IATSE TTF strives to achieve its vision of a workforce with the highest level of training in skills, safety, and craftsmanship available across its jurisdiction. The TTF is a joint labor-management fund governed by the Department of Labor and ERISA and maintains strict adherence to guidelines and regulations.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for employee benefits administration including distribution and recording.
  • Update and maintain Paychex database through new hires, departures, salary and benefit changes, and union dues.
  • Ensure that staff compensation and benefits are accurate and ensure timely submission of payroll and benefits.
  • Ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and consistently administers the CBAs.
  • Works directly under the guidance of the Executive Director to review, develop, implement, and execute the organization’s policies and procedures consistent with CBAs. ?
  • Maintains and implements systems for personnel administration, including recruitment, onboarding new employees, record keeping, legal reporting, time-tracking, exit interviews, and management of employee pension, annuity, and health benefits.
  • Monitors timely and complete conduct of annual employee evaluations.
  • Tracks employee personal time off and various leave requests.
  • Maintains current job descriptions for all employees
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensuring compliance.
  • Responsible for assuring compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Responsible for consulting with legal counsel and the Executive Director on personnel matters (as appropriate).
  • Works directly with managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Oversees and supervises Operations which include IT, Insurance, Supplies Management, and Office Management
  • Supervises the Operations Manager.
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Education and/or experience in human resources in a unionized work environment is a must.
  • BA in Administration, Human Resources, Business, or related degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role and experience in a Human Resources capacity desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within an organization in a human resources function.
  • Significant experience working in an HR capacity in a unionized environment.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Experience with or understanding of Taft-Hartley and /or ERISA Funds.
  • Ability to use considerable judgment, initiative, and independence.
  • Experience and understanding of the entertainment industry is a plus.
