Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to to lead the search for an enthusiastic Manager of Major Gifts for our client and amazing social service organization working on behalf of US veterans and families! This is a remote position that is for immediate hire and can be located with the continental United States.

An entrepreneurial major gifts professional for a rapidly growing and widely recognized non-profit. You will play a key role in continuing to build out a robust major gifts program. Reporting to the Director of Growth, you will be responsible for identifying, prospecting, and meeting with potential donors and high net worth individuals to grow and maintain a portfolio of 150+ major gift supporters. In this role you will work extremely close with senior leadership, board members, local advocates, and staff to secure unrestricted revenue for the organization by cultivating new donors, and managing a group of assigned, qualified donors (caseload).

The Role

  • Qualify a group of caseload donors with a propensity to give $25,000+ annually, as well as planned or legacy gifts.
  • Create individual goals for each person within the caseload based on the donor's history of giving and the organization's knowledge of that donor's potential.
  • Work with the leaders and staff to develop funding opportunities, engage in relationship-building activities of many kinds with clients/alumni, existing supporters, volunteers, and prospects.
  • Coordinate a minimum of 120 individual visits annually to cultivate and solicit major gifts from your portfolio of prospects and donors. Generally, face-to-face proposals and relationship-building is expected.
  • Supervise a direct report who leads the individual giving portfolio; collaborate, Individual Giving, to maximize moves between individual donors and major supporters
  • Ability to secure project and organization information and create and write effective offers, proposals and asks. Ability to secure information that can be sent back to donors to report on how their money was used.
  • Work with our programs (transition specialists, volunteer/capacity building, employment partnerships etc.,) and other members of the growth team in development, corporate partnerships, marketing, and communications to secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and create offers, proposals and asks that will be used with persons on the caseload to obtain gifts.
  • Master optimal utilization of Salesforce contact tracking resources to gather, record, and adequately store information about prospects and donors
  • Create regular reports as required by management that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience in major gift development and fundraising.
  • Three (or more) years of successful experience in development and fundraising, which include major gift experience, possibly in higher education or other nonprofit related field, with an understanding of major gift planning and prospect development.
  • Ability to interact with high-level supporters ensuring they have a positive while maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proven track record of successfully soliciting and securing major personal gifts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a high level of sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings.
  • Experience with donor management/CRM (Salesforce preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with individuals of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Conversant in and knowledge of planned giving tools (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of IRS guidelines for charitable contributions and Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability.
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant business and accounting functions including project management and budgeting.
  • Ability to travel 25% and work outside of standard business hours.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Position available for a 100% remote working environment

Compensation and Benefits

$85,000 - $105,00 starting base salary per year plus an incentive bonus and a full benefits package, remote role, amazing team environment and working at an incredible nonprofit helping our national US community!
