Scion Staffing (www.scionstaffing.com) has been engaged to conduct a new search for a Career Services Specialist for our client, an established computer training school in Portland, OR. This position works on a wonderful team and is a contract-to-hire opportunity with an immediate need!
OVERVIEW
The Career Services Specialist will be working closely to guide students through their career search! The role combines one on one coaching, employer engagement, workshop facilitation, and participation in future program expansion design.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Coaching students through the process of preparing to secure employment including resume and cover letter development, interviewing skills and reference development.
- Facilitating interview preparation workshops and mock interviews with volunteers.
- Guiding students through the process of applying for, securing, and transitioning to a new career path.
- Cultivating relationships with existing and potential employers to develop opportunities for the job seekers.
- Collaborating with both the WorkSource and Veteran’s Administration teams to assist student’s in career development.
- Staying current on new resources, information, job development techniques that might benefit the students.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in navigating Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Adobe Suite.
- Ability to take initiative and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Highly dependable and punctual.
- A positive attitude and ability to adapt to an everchanging environment.
