The Senior Payroll Accountant should thrive in a collaborative environment, working autonomously and independently to make our payroll, accounting, and financial reporting processes better, while completing payroll and tasks within deadlines.


We are seeking a new team member who is experienced in both processing payroll and creating financial reports for forecasting. This position is for immediate hire and is 100% remote working out of Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington (out of state residents will not be considered).

What You’ll Do in This Role
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Payroll duties (50%):
  • Run, manage, and audit weekly payroll. Ensure accuracy and work closely with the Managing Director of Finance and Operations. Payroll includes weekly and monthly commissions.
  • Create an efficient system to compile notes for weekly payroll adjustments. Be proactive, organized, and run a smooth payroll process.
  • Collect timecards and communicate with our temporary employees. Work with HR as needed for employee changes or updates.
  • Work in Spiff (commissions software) to import and export information.
  • Respond to recruiter questions about their temporary staffing payroll and to recruiter and sales questions about commissions.

Financial Reporting and Accounting duties:
  • Create financial reports and be proactive in providing financial forecasting.
  • Run a weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting schedule.
  • Create and send out monthly billing numbers (how much recruiters billed and how much sales sold).
  • Run and send out weekly reports on our temp hours and sales numbers and prepare company-wide quarterly emails with data.
  • Take the initiative to create and suggest other reports to make our business stronger.
  • Accounts receivable and collections.
  • AP/AR and accounting work in QuickBooks.
  • Complete general ledger and journal entries, balance sheet, income statements, etc.
  • Manage our monthly workers’ compensation reporting for our states.
  • Answer questions about accounting aspects, issues, or goals.
  • Give suggestions and help improve our accounting processes.
  • Help to support reconciliations by making sure transaction month end questions are answered.

Other duties:
  • Manage or help with vendors and support business operations.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Must have experience with payroll processing, commissions processing, and creating financial reports and forecasting financial information for executives. We are seeking someone trained and an expert in these core areas.
  • Multistate payroll experience and understanding paid sick leave laws, and or ability to understand and stay up to date on new laws and regulations.
  • Tech savvy is required. Experience with QuickBooks and MS Excel is required. This role will work with other technology such as Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and other online tools and applications. We use multiple software systems and this person needs to maneuver through each quickly and well enough to add and pull accurate data.
