Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Temporary Controller for an amazing nonprofit, educational agency. This is an incredible full-time, 6-month contract, and hybrid opportunity located in Bremerton, WA. The schedule for this role is Mon-Fri with 2 days in the office.

As the Temporary Controller, you will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations. You will be responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring program outcomes are achieved, and serving as a resource to agency personnel. You will manage two direct reports on your team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Managing 2 people in accounting.
  • Manage Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Manage voucher processing and audit Accounts Payable vouchers to ensure payments are made for goods and services received that meet legal requirements and organization policy.
  • Oversee entries into the accounting system, including reviewing journal vouchers to ensure correct coding, adequate supporting documentation, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the recording, depositing and investment of revenues for the General Fund and other funds.
  • Prepare the F-185 and F206 (Annual Financial Report) and manage the preparation of local, state, and federal reports (i.e., quarterly Department of Revenue tax reports, periodic grant reimbursement requests, and monthly reports for the Board).
  • Ensure reconciliation of financial records with outside agencies, including daily investments and related reports, annual interest accruals, monthly reports, and EFTPS payments.
  • Oversee the monthly business department review of payroll reports and ensure payroll certification and supplemental documents are ready for monthly Board meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4+ years as a Controller in a nonprofit or government entity
  • Current CPA license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Public Administration or related field.
  • Experience with ERP software such as Skyward.
 
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This contract opportunity allows you to work with an enthusiastic and thriving nonprofit organization! The hourly pay range for this role is $68-$72 per hour. You will also be able to receive medical, vision, and dental insurance benefits through Scion Staffing upon eligibility. Additionally, parking is available.
